We Might Be on TV

The "reality" show Jerseylicious is filmed at a salon by our house. I saw on Facebook that they were looking for a baby boy to come in for a free haircut. Well Aiden is in desperate need of a haircut so I sent them an email saying my son was 3 but needed a haircut if that would work. They called me later to say that they'd love to have him on the show. I thought we'd just be in the background getting his haircut while they filmed scenes. Well I was wrong... our part involved speaking lines!

We got there at 4pm and had to wait in their holding area which was 2 shopping centers away. I was the only one with kids - yes I had Anderson in his stroller and Aiden who was keeping himself entertained with his Leap Pad. At 5pm they brought us over to the salon. Many of the stars of the show were there (Gayle, Christy, Miguel, Michele and Doria). Aiden was supposed to get his hair cut by the newest guy on the show Anthony Tango. The producers put a microphone on me and I was taken by surprise b/c I really didn't realize we'd have to "act" for this free haircut. They had me go outside with the boys and walk to the salon, stop at the front desk and tell Christy "Hi! I saw the barber promotion and I'd like to take Aiden to get his first haircut." Then she would get Tango and he came over and introduced himself and they showed us to Aiden's chair. Well we had to do 2 takes and let me tell you it wasn't easy opening the door and pushing a stroller in there while they are filming us!

Well of course Aiden was shy and refused to get into the chair and I'm not a stage mom so I didn't push it. In the meantime they were filming the other guys walking in to get their haircut. While that was going on, I was chatting with Doria who is really nice. She is pregnant and due in May. She asked what nationality the boys were b/c she could tell they weren't 100% white. I was telling her that I just wanted to leave b/c there's no way he'll get his hair cut and I didn't want to be in the way. We literally had to stand in the middle of the salon for 20 minutes while they continued to film. Then they wrapped to eat and I told the producers there was no way Aiden would cooperate so we were going to take off. Afterwards Christy talked to us for a bit b/c she has a 17 month old daughter. Then the producer made me sign release forms for myself, Aiden and Anderson. I doubt our scene will make it on air since Aiden didn't go through with the cut, but you never know!

Of course I had promised Aiden a train if he got his haircut and even though he didn't, I figured I'd tortured him enough for 2 hours so we went to Target where he picked out something more expensive than a train of course! When Alvin asked him why he didn't get his haircut he said "Because I don't like to get my haircut next to those girls who are sitting in the chairs!" He likes going to the place where they have a train table and he can watch Dora on TV. Guess I'll be taking him there tomorrow!

Here's a picture of Aiden in the Gatsby in front of the barber pole they had set up for the shoot.

By the way, Anderson is a natural for the camera! He just slept the whole time!

Who's In Charge Here?

Aiden wasn't listening this morning and begging to watch another TV show even though we had to leave for school. When I told him that I am in charge and he has to listen, this was his response:
Aiden: No, you're not in charge because you are the mommy.
Me: Really? Then who is in charge of our house?
Aiden: Anderson is!

Some things that are hard to explain to a 3 year old...

Aiden was very upset that he filled up 2 cupcake tins with liners, yet there wasn't enough cake batter to make all 24 cupcakes. How do you explain to a 3 year old that even though the box says it will yield 18-24 cupcakes, you can never get more than 16 out of it!

Pudgy Little Guy

Anderson is our chunky monkey. I feel like he went straight from newborn clothes to 3-6 months. OK so he's not wearing 3-6 month clothes yet but I did put on a 0-3 month outfit on yesterday and it was snug! So I'm trying to have him wear as many of his outfits as he can b/c he has so many between Aiden's hand-me-downs and the gifts that people were nice enough to give him. And that wild hair picture is right after his bath today.

Finally Moving His Letters

We finally took Aiden's name down from Anderson's room. Now we need to buy Anderson his letters.

Let It Snow

We had our first snow in months today. Aiden had a blast playing out in the snow with Alvin. He said his favorite part was making snow balls.

New Anderson Pics

Anderson is getting bigger and bigger each day. He now has a double chin and his legs are so chunky! He's been sleeping longer at night (5-6 hour stretches) and last night he slept for 8 hours!

He Wasn't Shy Here

They opened a new self-serve frozen yogurt place by us so now we don't have to drive 20 minutes to Red Mango. Aiden loved dancing to the music that they were playing while Anderson slept.

Aiden's Winter Gala

Aiden had his Winter Gala yesterday. His teachers told us they were putting him in front b/c he always sings the loudest during rehearsal. But we were wondering if he'd sing because last year he got stage fright. In fact his YPS teacher Miss Theresa said that Aiden was the reason that she decided to have her class do an art show instead of perform. She tells everyone that Aiden always sang loud in rehearsal and his dad had a video of him singing Jingle Bells at home, but when the time came to perform he ran off and hid behind Mommy! But yesterday he did really well. He was definitely shy and wasn't facing us (I think he was looking at his teachers) but afterwards he was so excited that Mommy, Daddy, Anderson, Lolo and Lola were there to watch him. Then he proceeded to eat 6 munchkins and lots of gummy bears.

Someone Has More Hair Than His Brother

1st pic is Anderson after a bath and the 2nd pic is Aiden around the same age after a bath.

Think He Needs a New Audi Shirt

That says "My Daddy and Mommy Drive Audis"

Brotherly Love

Aiden is crazy about his little brother. The other night he came home from school and went running over to see Anderson and said "Hi baby, I miss you so much when I'm at school!"

My Boys at the "Fancy Restaurant"

We took Lolo and Lola to Ruth Chris Steakhouse to celebrate their 41st wedding anniversary. Of course I was nervous about bringing the kids to a non-kid-friendly place, but they did great! I told Aiden we were going to a fancy restaurant and he'd have to wear something fancy. So he went to his closet and grabbed his Super Mario pajamas and told me they would be perfect. Then when I said no, he grabbed his green "Aiden" t-shirt that Aunt Lauren gave him and promised me that it was a "fancy shirt." Finally I was able to convince him to wear a nice outfit and even wear his brown dress shoes that he's had for months and has refused to wear. This is why I don't buy him many shoes! Of course at the restaurant all he ate was bread, ice cream and raspberries, but I didn't care b/c I was so happy he was so well-behaved.

Watch Out on the Road!

Aiden has been scared of his Mustang so when his friend Mikey was over on Saturday, Alvin had Mikey test drive it. Of course Aiden ran inside and said he didn't want to play with the car, until he looked out the window and saw how much fun Mikey was having. Then he jumped in the passenger side and he shifted gears while Mikey steered. Aiden even took a turn in the driver's seat but according to Alvin, he needs a lot of practice! Hopefully he is over his fear and he'll actually use his car now.

Anderson is 1 Month!!!

Anderson turned 1 month old on January 6th. He is my new model to show off the monthly baby stickers I make. He's the cutest little monkey! And his big brother was excited to take a picture of him with his Leap Pad (which he refers to as his iPad)!

Anderson weighs 10lbs, 2oz (50-75th percentile), is 22.25" long (75-90th percentile) and his head is 14.25" (10-25th percentile). We're not used to a child with a small head since Aiden was always in the 90th percentile for head size!

Happy Birthday to Rob
