My Day Job = Major Stress This Week

I knew this week was going to be tough but boy it was emotionally draining for me! I had to be in the city at 7am on Tuesday to run my global marketing and communications offsite for 2 days and with 70 people. And to top that off I had to prepare a presentation to give on the innovative events I've been planning. I got through my presentation without a problem and then that evening we ran a dinner for 110 of our colleagues at STK in the Meatpacking District. Wednesday we had an amazing guest speaker - the co-founder of Honest Tea (so of course I told our venue we needed to have lots of Honest Tea on site). Then we had The Go Game come and do a scavenger hunt which was so much fun. But Thursday was the stressful day. We were turning Michael Jordan's Steakhouse in Grand Central from the stodgy steakhouse to a lounge full of lots of lights and our logos. This was an extremely high-profile event as my CEO wanted it to kickoff our new brand and he was going to be giving a demo of our new tool that will be out next year. Having an event in Grand Central presents many challenges including having the fire marshall and MTA staff breathing down the production company's neck to make sure everything was compliant. Therefore we were running very late and sure enough my CEO and the executives walked in while things were chaotic and not set up. It was the first event where I cried (I saw my boss walk in and I ran over to her and lost it but no one saw b/c we hid in the kitchen!). But in the end it all worked out - and my boss (who is leaving our company unfortunately) sent me those beautiful flowers! And at least I can look forward to laying my head on one of our branded pillows.

Final Swim Lesson

After Aiden's swim lesson, we finally played in the playground that is right outside the pool.

Swimming at Aunt June's house

The boys love spending time with their cousins, especially when they can go swimming. Aiden was in the pool swimming with his kickboard for more than 2 hours. Needless to say, he passed out on the couch as soon as we got home.

Chicago Trip

I had to run at event in Chicago and it was on the 66th floor of the Sears Tower (now called the Willis Tower). Great views although not as great as the 82nd floor of the Metropolitan Club where we normally hold our Chicago events. The night before I planned a happy hour for 40 coworkers at the Wit Rooftop Bar which was really cool and then 7 of us went out to dinner at Frontera Grill. My coworker pointed out Rick Bayless who is the owner and a famous chef. He was eating by himself at the bar right by us. I didn't realize until I came home and told Alvin about him - I watch his show all the time with Alvin. Now I wish I would have gotten my picture with him!

Rare Sighting at the Pool!

If you know Alvin, you may know that he hates public pools and tries to avoid them. But he couldn't say no to Aiden today when he asked him to come with us to the pool, especially after seeing him at his swim lesson yesterday and after having fun in the indoor pool party earlier in the day. Aiden has so much more confidence in the water now that he's taking lessons. He even goes down the slide himself without someone catching him. Anderson needs to work on his sharing. As you can see in the photo, he gets really mad when kids want to play with his toys and he yells "NO, Mine!!!"

Cute Hair... After Torture at the Barber

Yes he looks adorable, but getting his haircut is exhausting! He screams the whole time and freaks out. But boy does he look cute!

Mommy & Aiden Day

On Thursday I took the day off to have some special time with Aiden. For a little while we had the kiddie pool to ourselves. And then Aiden had a huge blueberry ice for a snack.
